Each roll gives one random artifact from the chosen pool, all equally likely. Here you see whether it pays off and how much you risk.
loses −3,338
expected value 2,170 − cost 5,508 · loses 100% of the time · worst 667, best 3,490
Expected value: average payout of each artifact in the pool, net of taxes (93.5% of the price), selling right now against the best buy order standing in any city (not publishing your own). A buy order escrows its silver up front, so this price is real, not a listing. Artifacts with no buy order at all are left out of the average. Loss chance: the share of offered artifacts that sell for less than the roll cost.
Assumptions: every artifact in the pool is equally likely, and 36 fragments per roll in the Mixed pool. Neither comes from the game data dump; the pools do (they are the artifacts whose recipe uses that fragment). Cost uses the cheapest fragment across the cities.
